Our basic package has three different options and is available for groups of 1-5 people. Each group will ride separately and will be assigned the appropriate number of guides depending on group size. These small group sizes allow for a much more personalized ride and allow us access to places that larger groups would not visit.
The Mountains:
This horse ride will takes us up to the interior mountains of Isla Margarita where the views are breathtaking. After the first climb we will stop and you will see the entire northeast side of Margarita Island and the islands of Los Frailes beyond. Playa El Agua is laid out like a carpet beneath you. It is a great spot for pictures. We then descend into a valley that is only accessible by horseback so it is largely untouched by man. Here you will find flora and fauna native to the island and maybe even a monkey. Out of the valley we will climb another mountain for more fantastic views and pictures of the island. Then we make our way back to the stables through a typical native village where you will see the real people of Isla Margarita.
The Beach: Two Options
Option One: We ride from the stables down to the beach where you can play in the waves on your horse. We then ride down the beach and up through a small village. Here we go cross country through a small valley to a place where the land falls away 30 meters or more to the sea. With the cliffs in front of you, Mount Guayamuri soaring to a height of 650 meters just behind you and Los Frailes rising out of the sea on the horizon, this is a truly unique place. To say that this is definitely a picture stop is an understatement. We then ride back down to the beach for some more play time in the waves and then return to the stables.
Option Two: We ride from the stables down to the beach where you can play in the waves on your horse. We then turn north and ride up the beach to a small marina and fish market where the local fisherman pull their colorful boats in and sell their fresh catches. From here we continue on to the local surfer's beach, Playa Parguito. We will also ride the length of this beach all the while letting the horses play in the sea. There are many little tiki bars along the way so if you are thirsty this is the way to go. We then return to the stables the way that we came.
Our full day package is a combination of any two options listed above and includes a lunch stop at one of the tiki bars on the beach.Can you imagine a better way to spend the day on Isla Margarita? Horse riding to the mountains, a great lunch at a cool little beach bar then more horse riding on the beach and we'll even throw in a beautiful sunset.
We can also customize a ride package for you to other destinations. There are many small trails that lead through the mountains to different places. A small stream hidden away through a mountain pass that is only accessible by a tiny herding trail that is hundreds of years old or an old foot trail that leads over the mountains, past an old sugar mill, to the other side of the island. These are just a couple of examples of places that we have discovered on the horses and we love to share them with you.
All packages are available for 1-5 people. You may book a tour for yourself with your own personal guide or bring your partner, family or friends. We will allow different levels of experience in the same group to go off and take some gallops together so that everyone will return to the stables with the same great feeling! We offer pre-ride instruction to those that require it so that people with little or no experience will enjoy their trip in a relaxed manner.
All packages include transportation from your hotel or vacation villa to the stables and return. Pre-ride instruction and orientation. Beverage service at the stables after the ride. Helmets are available on request but are not required.
